Translation: There is no god but Allah alone, without partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He has power over all things.

When to recite

Throughout the Day of Arafah (9 Dhul-Hijjah), by pilgrims at Arafah and by Muslims everywhere.

Virtue

The Prophet ﷺ said: “The best supplication is the supplication of the Day of Arafah, and the best of what I and the prophets before me have said is: La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lah…”

About this dua

Narrated by Abdullah ibn ‘Amr. The same words, said one hundred times on any day, carry the reward of freeing ten slaves, one hundred good deeds recorded, one hundred sins erased and protection from Shaytan until evening (Sahih al-Bukhari 6403). Arafah is the heart of Hajj, and Muslims who are not on pilgrimage are encouraged to fast on this day and spend it in dua and dhikr.
