* Ramadan lasts 29 or 30 days. The 30th fast is kept only if the Shawwal moon is not sighted on the evening of the 29th; otherwise Eid al-Fitr is the next day.

Times are local time in Tehran (Asia/Tehran). Sehri ends when Fajr begins and Iftar is at sunset (Maghrib). Fast length is counted from Fajr to Maghrib. Dates follow the Umm al-Qura calendar, and local moon sighting may move them by a day.

How the times change through Ramadan in Tehran

Between the first and the 29th fast, Sehri in Tehran moves about 31 minutes earlier (5:34 AM to 5:03 AM), and Iftar moves about 26 minutes later (5:58 PM to 6:24 PM). As a result the fast grows longer by about 57 minutes, from 12h 24m to 13h 21m.

The Institute of Geophysics, University of Tehran method (17.7° Fajr, 14° Isha, Maghrib at 4.5° below the horizon) is the convention used in Iran; its Asr shadow rule matches the standard (Shafi) setting. If your mosque follows a different convention, choose it above and the timetable updates. Sehri and Iftar don't depend on the Asr setting, so only the method changes these times.

For breaking the fast, see the dua for breaking the fast and the other Ramadan duas. Daily prayer times for the rest of the year are on the prayer times page for Tehran, and the Ramadan guide explains the month.

If Ramadan begins on Monday 8 February 2027, Sehri in Tehran ends at 5:34 AM, when Fajr begins, and the fast is opened at Iftar at 5:58 PM. These times use the Institute of Geophysics, University of Tehran method, which is the usual choice in Iran.

How long is the fast in Tehran during Ramadan 2027?

Why does my mosque in Tehran show an earlier Sehri time?

Many mosques and printed calendars stop Sehri a few minutes before Fajr as a precaution (ihtiyat), so nobody eats into the time of the fast by mistake. This timetable shows the start of Fajr itself, and you can choose a 5 or 10 minute margin above the table. Mosques may also use a different calculation method.
