About prayer times in Mashhad

Mashhad lies at 36.26° N, 59.62° E in Razavi Khorasan. Clocks there follow Iran Standard Time (UTC+3:30, time zone Asia/Tehran) all year with no daylight saving changes, so prayer times move only gradually with the seasons. Dhuhr, which begins just after the sun passes its highest point, stays between 11:15 AM and 11:46 AM on the clock all year.

The Institute of Geophysics, University of Tehran method (17.7° Fajr, 14° Isha, Maghrib at 4.5° below the horizon) is the convention used in Iran; its Asr shadow rule matches the standard (Shafi) setting. With this method Fajr starts when the sun is 17.7° below the horizon before dawn, and Isha when it reaches 14° after sunset. If your mosque follows a different convention, change the method or the Asr setting above and every table on this page will update.

The seasons make a big difference in Mashhad. In 2026, Fajr falls as early as 2:26 AM (10 June) and as late as 5:13 AM (2 January); Maghrib swings from 4:37 PM to 7:15 PM, and Isha can be as late as 8:15 PM. The day (sunrise to sunset) grows from about 10h 02m to 15h 00m.

Ramadan 1448 AH: on the Umm al-Qura calendar, Ramadan is expected to run from about 8 February to 8 March 2027; the actual dates depend on moon sighting and may differ by a day in Iran. In Mashhad, the first fast would run from Fajr at 5:01 AM to Maghrib at 5:24 PM (about 12h 23m), and by the last day from 4:29 AM to 5:51 PM (about 13h 22m). See the Ramadan guide for more.

The times on this page are the moments each prayer's time begins. On Fridays, Jumu'ah is prayed in congregation in place of Dhuhr. Mosques in Mashhad usually announce their own congregation (jama'ah) times, which are set some minutes after the start times shown here.
