About prayer times in Sydney
Sydney lies at 33.87° S, 151.21° E in New South Wales. Clocks there follow the Australia/Sydney time zone and change for daylight saving: Australian Eastern Standard Time (UTC+10) in the southern winter and Australian Eastern Daylight Time (UTC+11) in the southern summer. Every prayer time on the clock jumps by an hour on the changeover dates, and the timetable above already includes this. Dhuhr, which begins just after the sun passes its highest point, stays between 11:45 AM and 1:10 PM on the clock all year.
The Muslim World League angles (18° Fajr, 17° Isha) are a common default for Australian mosques and apps. With this method Fajr starts when the sun is 18° below the horizon before dawn, and Isha when it reaches 17° after sunset. If your mosque follows a different convention, change the method or the Asr setting above and every table on this page will update.
Over 2026, Fajr in Sydney is earliest on 7 December (3:54 AM) and latest on 3 April (5:46 AM), while Maghrib ranges from 4:53 PM to 8:10 PM. Daylight lasts from about 9h 54m around 16 June to 14h 25m around 18 December.
Ramadan 1448 AH: on the Umm al-Qura calendar, Ramadan is expected to run from about 8 February to 8 March 2027; the actual dates depend on moon sighting and may differ by a day in Australia. In Sydney, the first fast would run from Fajr at 4:51 AM to Maghrib at 7:55 PM (about 15h 04m), and by the last day from 5:23 AM to 7:23 PM (about 14h 00m). See the Ramadan guide for more.
The times on this page are the moments each prayer's time begins. On Fridays, Jumu'ah is prayed in congregation in place of Dhuhr. Mosques in Sydney usually announce their own congregation (jama'ah) times, which are set some minutes after the start times shown here.
