About these dates
The Islamic calendar is lunar, so its months begin with the new crescent moon and each lasts 29 or 30 days. The Umm al-Qura calendar used here is the official calculated calendar of Saudi Arabia. Many Muslims, however, begin Ramadan, Eid and other months based on an actual sighting of the moon, locally or in another country, and their dates can be one day later than the ones above. Please confirm important dates with your local mosque.
